(Port Angeles) -- Sequim's Drew Rickerson threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more scores as the Wolves pasted the previously undefeated Port Angeles Roughriders 41-0 Friday night, winning the Olympic League championship.
Both teams move into the 2A district playoffs next Saturday at North Kitsap Stadium in Poulsbo.
Port Angeles will match up with the Sumner Spartans at 4 p.m., while Sequim will play the Washington Patriots at 7 p.m.
A standing-room-only crowd -- estimated at 42-hundred -- jammed the Civic Field grandstand and portable bleachers installed on the east-side of the field.
The tenth-ranked Wolves (8-1 overall, 6-0 league) got on the board in 2 plays after holding the 7th-ranked Roughriders (8-1 overall, 5-1 league) to three plays and out on the game's first possession.
Starting at their own 28, Rickerson hit Tyler Forshaw on a 45-yard bubble screen to the PA 27 and a horse-collar tackle penalty moved the ball to the Rider 12.
Rickerson found Frank Catelli open over the middle for a leaping 12-yard TD strike with 10:11 left in the opening quarter for a 7-0 Wolves lead.
Both teams bogged down on their next two possessions before the Wolves clicked on another 5-play scoring march, keyed by Catelli's 27-yard quarterback ramble to the PA 17 on 3rd-and-short.
Two plays later, Rickerson followed his blocking superbly on a slicing 17-yard touchdown run for a 14-0 Sequim advantage with 8:03 left in the first half.
Port Angeles quarterback Keenan Walker was intercepted by Sequim's Joey Hall at the Wolves 47.
A 27-yard Rickerson pass to Isaac Yamamoto gave Sequim a first-and-goal at the PA 8, where Rickerson scored again on the second play for a 20-0 lead with 4:48 to go in the second quarter.
The Wolves broke it open with another 2-play blitz starting at their own 26, a 34-yard pass from Rickerson to Yamamoto, followed by a full-speed, arms-extended grab of a Rickerson bomb by Joey Hall for a 40-yard score and a 27-0 Sequim halftime lead.
Sequim opened the second half with a 63-yard scoring drive, highlighted by a 33-yard Rickerson pass to Joey Hall to the PA 24.
Isaac Yamamoto capped it with a 1-yard plunge, increased the lead to 34-0 with just a minute and a half gone in the second half.
The final Sequim TD was a 19-yard Michael Ballard scoring reception from Rickerson with 1:02 to go in the third quarter.

(Sequim) -- Drew Rickerson threw 4 touchdown passes and ran for another score as Sequim defeated the North Kitsap Vikings 42-21 last night at Sequim High School.
The first of two Rickerson TD strikes to Joey Hall -- from 18 yards -- gave Sequim the initial lead of 7-0 with 5:49 left in the opening quarter.
North Kitsap tied the game at 7 after a 69-yard TD pass from A.J. Milyard to Alex Nettleton with 11:27 to go in the first half.
In typical fashion this season, Sequim went on a scoring rampage, reaching pay dirt 4 more times before halftime.
Rickerson connected with Isaac Yamamoto on TD passes of 25 and 16 yards, before taking a 31-yard quarterback keeper to the end zone as Sequim increased its advantage to 28-7.
Frank Catelli reached the end zone on a 5-yard run with 19 seconds left in the half as the Wolves led 35-7 at intermission.
Rickerson's final scoring pass to Hall from 20 yards came with 9:27 to go in the third quarter.
North Kitsap got on the board twice in the second half on Milyard touchdown passes -- a 23-yarder to Nettleton and a 8-yard toss to Andrew Urquhart with 7:05 to play.
The Wolves and the Port Angeles Roughriders have identical 5-0 Olympic League marks and will meet next Friday night at Civic Field for the league championship.

2010 Football Game 7 - Sequim 63, Olympic 8

(Sequim) -- Sequim's Isaac Yamamoto rushed for 168 yards on 17 carries and scored 4 touchdowns as the Wolves celebrated a 63-8 Homecoming victory over the Olympic Trojans.
Quarterback Drew Rickerson completed 18 of 27 passes for 230 yards and 2 TD's for the 6-1 Wolves, who kept pace with Port Angeles at 5-0 in Olympic League action.
Sequim led 13-0 after the first quarter on Yamamoto scoring runs of 1 and 31 yards.
After Olympic turned the ball over on downs at the Sequim 3, the Wolves engineered an 11-play, 97-yard touchdown drive capped by Rickerson's 1-yard keeper, increasing the lead to 20-0.
Rickerson completed 7 of 9 passes on the march, two completions each to Joey Hall, Frank Catelli and Tyler Forshaw.
Olympic got its only touchdown of the game on a 37-yard sprint by running back Shawn Brown with 5:20 before intermission to cut it to 20-8.
Sequim blew the contest open with three additional second-quarter scores, another 2-yard Yamamoto run, a 15-yard fumble return by Kahn Mills and a 35-yard Rickerson pass to Joey Hall.
The Wolves took a 42-8 lead to the halftime locker room.
Hall caught 7 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown.
The game clock ran non-stop for the final 16 minutes, 22 seconds after Yamamoto's final TD from 8 yards with 4:22 left in the third quarter, courtesy of the mercy rule.
The Wolves' Jack Wiker reached pay dirt from 10 yards with 10:51 to go for the final points at 63-8.
Sequim hosts the North Kitsap Vikings next Friday.

2010 Football Game 6 - Sequim 56, Kingston 28

(Kingston) -- A 10-minute, 42-point barrage opened up a insurmountable lead for the Sequim Wolves Thursday night as defeated the Kingston Buccaneers 56-28 at Buccaneer Field.
Kingston had the initial lead of 7-0 after Sam Byers 69-yard touchdown pass to Stephen Gorman.
The Wolves' Tyler Forshaw then returned the Bucs kickoff 93 yards for the answering score, but Sequim trailed 7-6 after the 2-point conversion attempt failed, the first of 6 consecutive Wolves TD's.
Sequim's defense came up with a sack and recovered Byers fumble at the Kingston 27.
A play later, Drew Rickerson hit Chase Bigger in the left corner of the end zone for a 27-yard TD.
Rickerson found Frank Catelli for the 2-point conversion and Sequim led 14-7 with a 1:16 left in the first quarter.
Sequim got its second one-play scoring drive when Rickerson connected with Forshaw on 45-yard bubble screen making it 21-7.
The Wolves point avalanche continued on the next Kingston scrimmage play when Joey Hall intercepted Byers and returned it 25 yards for a score, increasing the lead to 28-7.
Sequim capped off another drive - 3 plays, 41 yards - when Isaac Yamamoto dashed 23 yards for a TD, making it 35-7.
On the ensuing kickoff, the Buccaneer nightmare continued when Tucker Bowman fumbled at his own 2 and the ball bounced into the hands of Sequim's Frank Catelli at the goal line for another 6 points and a 42-7 Wolves lead with 5:56 left until halftime.
The teams traded touchdowns the rest of the way with Kingston getting 2 scores on passes from Byers to tight end George Marinan, who had 3 grabs for 69 yards.
Sequim's Yamamoto scored twice more - on a 16-yard screen from Rickerson and a 25-yard interception return.
The final statistics showed a much closer game than the scoreboard with Sequim outgaining Kingston 340-310.
Sequim improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in Olympic League play, while Kingston dropped to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in Olympic League action.

(Belfair) -- Sequim's Drew Rickerson connected with Joey Hall for three touchdown passes and Issac Yamamoto ran for 162 yards and 2 scores as the Wolves rolled to 49-20 romp over the North Mason Bulldogs Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.

Sequim (4-1) and Port Angeles (5-0), a 55-15 winner over the Olympic Trojans, are the Olympic League co-leaders at 3-0.

North Mason drops to 2-1 in league play and 3-2 overall.

After Sequim led 15-0 with 4:13 left in the first quarter, North Mason's Tevin Williams took a kickoff at his own 15 and broke through the pack on the left sideline and raced 85 yards for a touchdown, cutting the Wolves' lead to 15-7.

Sequim countered the big Bulldog play with one of its own when Frank Catelli ripped the ball away from a North Mason ball carrier and took it 25 yards to paydirt and a 22-7 advantage with 7:24 left in the first half.

North Mason got its only sustained drive of the half -- a 12-play, 53 yard march that took 3:30 -- to score on Tommy Renne's 1-yard plunge with 1:43 before intermission, cutting the deficit to 29-14.

It was all Sequim after halftime, with the Wolves going up 34-7 on Drew Rickerson's 55-yard quarterback keeper with 6:26 left in the third quarter.

Yamamoto scored his two TD's -- from 25 and 8 yards -- to increase the bulge to 49-14.

North Mason's Charlie Becker connected with Josh Hoiser for a 15 yard touchdown pass as the game clock expired for the Bulldogs final points.

Sequim will visit Kingston Thursday, while North Mason travels to Port Angeles Friday.
