Sequim boys down Kingston 59-40

(Kingston) -- Sophomore Bailey Earley scored a career-high 19 points as the Sequim High Wolves boys beat the Kingston Buccaneers 59-40 Wednesday night.
Sequim (5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Olympic League 2A) will face the Olympic Trojans (5-2 overall, 2-0 in Olympic League 2A) on Friday night at Rick Kaps Gym in a showdown for the division lead.
Olympic was a 78-75 winner over North Kitsap in a thriller Wednesday in Silverdale.
Although Wednesday's game was tied 3 times early, Sequim never trailed, ahead 16-12 with six players tallying in the opening quarter.
Liam Young, who scored a team-high 11 points for the Bucs, finished a three-point play after the buzzer to keep Kingston's halftime deficit to single digits at 31-23.
Sequim held Kingston scoreless for the first 6:35 of the third quarter, increasing their lead to 17 before Gavin Veilleux, who finished with 9 markers, ended the Bucs drought with 1:25 remaining.
The Wolves went to the final frame ahead 40-25.
Kingston hit 3 triples in the fourth period, but got no closer than 12 and the Wolves pushed the lead back to 19 late in the contest.
The Bucs visit Bremerton Friday.
