Sequim girls beat Klahowya 35-24
(Sequim) -- The Sequim girls came back from a first half deficit and pulled out a 35-24 victory over the Klahowya Eagles Friday night at Rick Kaps Gym.
A low scoring, defensive-minded first half saw the Eagles leading 5-4 after the first period and 13-10 at halftime.
The Wolves went ahead for good 20-17 on a third quarter triple by senior McKenzie Bentz.
Sequim took a 22-21 advantage to the final period and outscored the Eagles 13-3 in the final frame after ramping up their defensive pressure.
Sequim senior Victoria Cummins led the Wolves with 10 points, Kylee Williams added 6, while Elise Beuke, Hailey Lester and Bentz chipped in 5 markers apiece.
Klahowya got 5 apiece from Izzy Severns and Holly Rouse. Danielle Antoldi had 5 and Allie Honeycutt 4.
In other Olympic League girls games Friday, North Mason drubbed Chimacum 48-23 and Olympic downed Port Townsend 65-34. In non-leaguers Central Kitsap dropped Kingston 60-43 and Coupeville beat Darrington 47-31.
The Sequim girls play at Bremerton Tuesday, when Klahowya visits North Kitsap.
