Anacortes girls beat Sequim 49-37

(Sequim) -- The Anacortes girls basketball team finished a weekend road trip to the Olympic Peninsula with a sweep of the local 2A schools, beating the Sequim Wolves 49-37 Saturday at Rick Kaps Gym.
The Seahawks downed Port Angeles Friday night 42-29.
Hope Hurtado led the way for Anacortes with a game-high 22 points against Sequim.
The Seahawks led 13-8 after the first buzzer, Hurtado scoring 7 first quarter markers.
Sequim countered with an 11-4 run over the first 4-and-a-half minutes of the second period, taking the lead 19-17 on a layup by sophomore Adrienne Haggerty with 3:38 to go until halftime.
Anacortes regained the lead for good after a pair of triples from junior Stella Gillman.
The Seahawks led 27-19 at intermission, finishing the half on a 9-0 spurt.
Gillman paced Anacortes with 13, Brooke Riordan added 6 and Monica Downs 4.
Victoria Cummins led the Wolves with 12 tallies, Elise Beuke added 6 and Haggerty had 5.
Sequim (4-5 overall and 1-2 in Olympic League 2A Division play) will be idle until Tuesday, January 6th, when the Wolves host North Mason.
Anacortes (7-3 overall and 1-1 in Northwest Conference play) visits Lynden on January 6th.
